Salt Free Systems

At Just Plumbing, we know there are endless amount of “Salt Free” water treatment claims on the internet. From systems with Magnets to EZ electronic “No Plumbing Required” systems. We investigated many of these systems and found the vendors of such systems could never provide proof that the system did anything to improve water quality or prevent calcium and magnesium from attaching to the plumbing system, faucets or appliances. For this reason we avoided selling these systems. However, the appeal of having a system that used no electricity, no salt, and produced no waste water was too great to stop looking all together. Finally we came across a water treatment study conducted by ASU. The study compared different forms of “Salt Free” treatments and concluded that using Filtersorb media (a TAC system) resulted in 99% scale prevention! To view the study, click here.

No Salt Water Softeners Are Virtually Maintenance Free!

Based on these results, Just Plumbing now offers a REAL Salt Free Water Conditioner, using Filtersorb Anti-Scale Media. It was was specially developed and manufactured to protect against the formation of scale and even REMOVE ALREADY EXISTING SCALE from pipes and heaters! Something water softeners cannot do.

The Filtersorb media prevents the formation of scale and eliminates existing scale by accelerating the transformation of the calcium and magnesium minerals into harmless nano particles. As the nano particles flow through plumbing systems, they do not attach to pipes, fixtures, valves, or heating elements. The result is 99% scale prevention and removal

Calcium Scale Basics

How does calcium scale develop on pipes and hardware?
Calcium Scale is a hard thick coating or covering of calcium carbonate that forms on heating elements and on the pipes and hardware of plumbing systems. As the calcium rich water enters into the home, it becomes interrupted within the pipes. Temperature increases or movement cause the compound to breakdown and parts of the calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate are no longer dissolved and attach to the surfaces of pipes, heaters, and hardware. Over time, the scale compounds and is very difficult and costly to remove.

What are the effects of calcium?

Negative Effect
The negative effect of calcium is that it creates scale on pipes, hardware, and surfaces. This leads to high energy costs for water heaters and expensive repairs for water heaters, ice machines, coffee machines, and other appliances. The scale also may breed bacteria.

Positive Effect
Calcium enriched water is a health benefit and an important nutrient needed to help prevent or minimize diseases such as heart disease. Ideally, consumable water should contain adequate amounts of calcium and magnesium which are both found in hard water.
